Our three main offerings are mat, tower and reformer pilates.
Mat pilates focuses on floor work with your mat. The creator of pilates (Joseph Pilates) began teaching this specific routine of movements, and it involves little to no equipment. Today, mat classes continue to be challenging and heavily focused on strengthening the core. Mat pilates is a great place to start if you are just entering the wonderful world of pilates.
The pilates reformer provides a great, full body workout. Using your legs and arms you will push and pull against spring resistance on a carriage that moves. Exercises can range from simple to advanced and can be modified easily for fitness levels and skill. This is often a popular option for group classes.
The tower can be attached to the reformer pilates equipment. In some cases, it can also be used against a wall with a mat. It allows you to try some of the moves you would typically perform on the Cadillac. The tower can also be used to isolate your muscles through specific movements performed on it. This means it’s also perfect to achieve a really deep stretch.
Tower and reformer pilates
Tower and reformer pilates is a combination of both types of equipment and exercises listed above. It’s a great transition class to move onto once you’ve mastered the basics from mat pilates.
