Food & diet tips

The old maxim that a great body is built in the kitchen, not the gym, rings true in a few ways.

While your exercise routine is undeniably critical in helping you achieve your fitness goals, food fuels your body and can mean the difference between seeing results sooner rather than much later in your fitness journey.
Here are a few food and diet tips that can help you achieve the results you’re looking for in the studio and get you to where you want to be faster.

Fibre is your friend

Not only does it aid in digestion, which itself is an excellent ally in your battle to get slimmer, but fibre also has the added benefit of filling you up, reducing the chance of you overeating throughout the day. Many processed foods, unfortunately, have the fibre stripped out of them, so avoid those. Replace foods like white rice and bread with fibre-rich alternatives such as brown rice and whole wheat.

Eat often

Hunger can be the catalyst for making poor food choices. Snacking throughout the day is the best way to stave off hunger. Keep a steady supply of fruits, nuts and vegetables nearby at work or with you as you go about your day. Cut up apples, carrots and celery into bite-sized portions, place them in sandwich bags and keep them in your purse, at your desk or wherever they are going to be close at hand.

Never skip breakfast

We’ve all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day since kindy, but it’s true. Breakfast provides an excellent opportunity to have your protein and the daily dose of the good fat you need to keep your body in top shape. Protein, like fibre, fills you up and tends to be more satisfying than carbs. Eating it in the being of the day gives your body the whole day to process and break it down as well.
